All About Developing A Strong Bond With Your Baby
Developing a strong bond with your baby is the best thing you can ever do and this is because the strong attachment existing between mother and baby actually starts in the womb. There are however two kinds of bonding: the secure and the insecure one.
When a baby feels the secure attachment to the mother, it is the healthiest thing to happen because it leads to higher self esteem as well as level of trust. The opposite is true of the insecure attachments because they usually lead to social difficulties. Childcare experts keep repeating the importance of developing a secure bond with a child for the sake of the baby plus the mother.
You may be asking how this is so. It starts with the time the baby is still in its mother's womb; and that is the reason why expectant mothers ought to take care of themselves by getting enough sleep and support. The child in the womb actually gets affected when the mother is troubled and unhappy. The end result is that when the baby is born, the child forms an insecure attachment to the mother.
After getting the baby, the mother needs to have some time away from the baby for her to get enough rest because a well rested mother normally feels less stress. It is going to help her to bond well with the baby.
If mother gets enough time with the baby during feeding and rest times, it helps the kid to get attached to her.
Babies should be made to feel that the mothers are able to respond in an effective and timely manner to their needs. They should be fed regularly and not be left to feel hungry and irritable because they will feel very insecure.
Good mothers take advantage of their playtime and feeding time to bond with their babies. Mothers get to know the needs of the babies and their feelings by facial expressions and behaviors; meet those needs and form a lasting and loving bond with them.
Since all parents love their children, they should do their best to meet their short and long term needs which will help them to become secure and have a healthy attachment to them. All of the things mentioned above will definitely play a major role in helping you get there.
